International Women’s Day 2015

In what is fast becoming something of a tradition, this International Women’s Day I wanted to celebrate another worthy female-run endeavour. Last year it was Trowelblazers, in 2015 I am sharing with you Bu Bakes. Bu Bakes make unique, beautiful and insanely delicious bespoke cakes, with 25p from every sale going to support Mind (as if we needed another excuse to eat cake).

This one-woman operation, based in Essex made my Valentine’s Day truly amazing this year by creating this stunning art deco masterpiece and also going out of her way to get it to my home.

If you are based in the Essex area I would heartily advise you to order one of her red velvet cupcake bouquets for Mother’s Day (or any other day).

I love hearing about people being autonomous in their own lives and forging the career they want above and beyond what’s safe or assured. After all we only get one go around this old Ferris wheel and we shouldn’t spend it looking at a brick wall. However, it can be scary to step in to the unknown, and takes real courage to do so. Courage deserves to be celebrated and it feels particularly suitable to support female determination and vision on this most awesome of days.

Happy International Women’s Day to all of you forging your own paths, in whatever way makes you most happy and most you.

Cake and courage peoples.

It’s always a joy to be mentioned by someone I respect, but to be the focus of your post on such an important day really is so lovely. Thank you, and to anyone debating following a dream or a different path – it really is possible. It’s scary, but possible! Get all the best people you can around you; and with their support, give it a go.

Thanks again for such a wonderful start to my morning :) xx
